the group of glee

With all the brouhaha about the inapropriacy of the cheerleading catching fire and everybody doling out their precious and expert views on how it's a culture invasion or morality breach etc etc ... I am thrown back to my teen years ...when the movies on cheerleaders were my favorite.I wanted to be one of these flexible and superbly skilled air-heads who perform all kinds of acrobatics with dexterity and panache. The famous line "cheerleaders never quit " has given me quite a great deal of moral support in times when all i wanted to do was accept myself as a loser.
So why all the hubbub? To me ,it's screamingly funny ....especially coming from an actor like shatrugan sinha ....who starred in many movies where actresses/vamps used to cavort around the goons wearing some flimsy outfits with not much left to imagination ....si tu veux.

even if i try fitting microscopic lenses in my eyes..I can't find cheerleading vulgar...It's just an expression of joy ..probably uncouth indians see cheerleaders as amourous objects but that's their problem ...not a scar on the profession itself.I read this fun statement in pune mirror where this guy was defending cheerleading by saying "these girls are sources of different types of happiness to diffrent people ...carnal,victorios and visual (at least there's a ring of honesty here).
I like these girls.. hats off to Mallya to bring the tradition officially to India....others,go eat crow
