Intelligence Unleashed

As most of us are marriagable age,and almost all of us think half the time about our would-be soulmates, people often tend to discuss the kind of person they would love to share their lives with.
The most common adjective that pops up is "intelligence".
While guys say that with pride,as if they are the only animals on this planet to consider grey cells in addition to the ever essential anatomical structure, girls say that with fondness,as if intelligence were some synonym for caring,or appreciating(e.g.,if your guy says you look like a dewdrop on a sycamore,he must be very intelligent to conjure that).

Anyhow, the word pops it head everywhere.
What i wonder, however,is what does intelligence mean?
In school days ,you were intelligent if you scored the highest in your class(no matter how many times you learned your stuff by rote, like a green bird i know),in college,a guy who could talk instead of gaping at the lady on the other side of table and the girl who could win debates were the "intelligent" species.
Some people, when demanded a definition of intelligence would tell you "someone who thinks logically and rationally is intelligent",so that means all creative people are dumb, since they live in a world of there own, ain't it?

"Anyone who can hold an interesting and sensible conversation is intelligent"...someone gave me this one.Good!!! translates to ,All introverts are idiots. Please!!
One brawny creature told me intelligence was about being perceptive.Another thinks only an understanding person can be intelligent.I would be damned if i understand the link between being understanding and being intelligent..
Frustrated,I took the help of dictionary, that too for a word everyone knows.
and here's what it says
"the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment "

Are you intelligent enough?
